I’ve found some great contemporary situational comedies from the motherland! I thought these were too good to not share with you.. whoever you are.. Who are you? How did you get in my house? Did you at least take off your shoes? You look hungry, are you hungry? How have we had this conversation without me even acknowledging your existence? What kind of a prick am I? Alright, on with the entertainment my friend.
This first show is called “The IT Crowd”. The title alone is a fair example of the writer’s ability to play with/on words. It was written by Graham Linehan who has a reputation for pulling story plots from the furthest corners of his wild imagination. It’s centered around three characters in an IT department. The chemistry between the director (Ben Fuller) and the three leads, Chris O’Dowd, Katherine Parkinson, and Christopher Morris is remarkable. Their energy is high, their timing is impeccable, and the risks they take pay off big time baby, big time. Here is the second episode of the first series. Watch the cast flex their funny muscles and enjoy!
Another show that was partly penned by Graham Lineham and party by Aurther Mathews is called Father Ted. This show has built up a rather strong cult following since going off the air in ’98. It’s got a peculiar story behind it. The title lead character (Father Ted) was played by Dermot Morgan who died one day after filming the last episode of the third season. It truly is a brilliant show with a bizarre mystique. Before I let you get to the clip, I must admit that I actually heard about this show while still living in Canada, but didn’t get around to seeing it until hearing about it again in England. Enough ramblin’, enjoy!
This show doesn’t need an introduction. There would be no point to me writing an introduction for the video. It would simply be a waste of time for me to even bother writing a single word because this show is too entertaining for me to interject between it and you. How are you by the way? Did you get something to eat? Charlie Brooker and his show “Newswipe”. Enjoy.
