Life as a Dream

Above is a montage of an evening at The Forks in Winnipeg spent with friends Luc Desjardins and Dan Gwozdz. We planned to shoot and edit a few clips to test out a few colour correction techniques we had just learned, as well as to do a field test and review of two new items in our gear collection: the glidecam and the zacuto zfinder. Enjoy.

Quiet Night

A montage of a quiet evening spent with friends in the Exchange district, downtown Winnipeg. This video was put together using footage from two Canon 5D MarkIIs, one Canon 7D, three Canon 1.8 50mm lenses, and one Canon 2.8 16-35mm lens.

All of this footage was not colour corrected or adjusted in any way. This is straight out-of-camera footage. Enjoy.

High-energy non-stop(motion) action! Purposely shot in aperture priority mode, with varying adjustments (adding to the humour, hopefully). This video was shot on a 5D MarkII camera.

Dr. Frank N. Stein goes through the sociological implications of the human handshake with his subject, a college frat-boy who needs to make some quick cash. We found out that we are able to view people’s likes, dislikes, thoughts, and suggestive behaviors all through various handshake techniques.

I went out with Tim Gray & Dan Huen of The Gray Area of Comedy and shot some completely improvised video sketches, these being two of them. These boys literally started the sketch the moment I hit the record button and shouted “action”. You’d be surprised just how much of their video sketches are improvised bits – very talented! Enjoy.

The Process:

This was the first version of the mocks created for Pepsi for the upcoming Pepsi CFL Western promotion by IC Group. This is a Connect ID sweepstakes promotion, where CFL fans are able to win a VIP trip to the 2009 Grey Cup in Calgary. The target audience is mainly men between ages of 14-30. This first design, following the can-in-the-field lead from the supplied POS creative, uses a lot of illuminating effects and dark colours, to coincide with the Pepsi MAX brand. Tying back to the Pepsi brand, I’ve kept a few blue highlights and tints. The final approved design went even further with following the Pepsi MAX brand, keeping with the entire site being filled with black, white, and red colours.
